I had the chance to attend Olivia Dean’s listening party and wanted to share some thoughts on a few of the tracks from her new album:
Lady Lady – A stunning piece capturing the art of transformation. The music video with ballerinas reflects this beautifully.

When She Smiles – Her voice feels so warm and present, like she’s right there in the room with us, instantly your best friend.

So Easy to Fall in Love – Pure flirty fun! The music video gave me Sex and the City vibes with shopping, love, and a theme song feel.

Let Alone the One You Love – The line “who would do that to a friend, let alone the one you love” hits deep. Plus, I love how her British accent shines through in the vocals.

Man I Need – An instant crowd favorite. We were told to get up and dance it out, and the energy was unmatched. It’s a powerful challenge to those who claim to love you—“honor your word.”

Something in Between – The perfect anthem for that confusing in-between stage: friendship? Relationship? Situationship? Absolute banger.

Loud – A soulful track that feels like the breakup song of the year.

Baby Steps – A pop breakup song with energy similar to Man I Need—it slaps in all the right ways.

A Couple Minutes – Starts like a Disney fairytale and then melts into R&B goodness. A true close-your-eyes-and-feel-it song.

I’ve Seen It – A beautiful and fitting ending to the album.

The evening itself was just as special—filled with good food, plenty of laughs, and the best vibes. We closed the night by filming TikToks to her viral hit Man I Need—the perfect ending to a wonderful celebration.

Big thanks to Universal Music South Africa for such an unforgettable invite!
