Bag Of Cans -
The night kicked off with support from Norfolk based Bag of Cans, a band who somehow manage to combine sharp humour with punchy, hook-laden rock — and make it feel genuinely authentic. Their set was packed with unfeigned laughs, substantial personality, and infectious energy, captivating the crowd from the first note.

One moment that had both the audience and me cracking up was when the frontman announced, “We’ve come up with a dance move… I know, I’m sorry.” It worked as the perfect icebreaker, especially for anyone still warming up to the atmosphere, and it neatly encapsulated their disarming, self-aware charm shown their set.

Overall, Bag of Cans delivered a brilliant opener — tight, entertaining, and refreshingly funny. They also took time after their set to chat, which was not only great from a networking perspective but also made for a genuinely lovely fan-to-band connection. A standout support act that set the tone for the night.

Ash -
Ash took to the stage as the gig’s main act, and from the moment they delved into their set, it was clear the crowd was in for something memorable and so special. Fans of all ages throughout the diversity, packed the venue, united by a shared affection for the band’s unmistakable energy. They delivered a performance that oozed with nostalgia—at times echoing the euphonious charm of Weezer, while also immersing into that eternal blend of pop-punk and rock that shaped so much of the early ’90s.

What stood out most was the atmosphere: intimate, warm, and remarkably personal for a band with such a storied festival past. It offered a welcoming contrast to the heavier, more frenzied shows they were known for in their ’90s heyday.

From my perspective, the night held its own quiet highlight. Being the only photographer in the pit with an approved media pass, added; for me, a rare sense of exclusivity—an unforeseen layer that made the experience feel even more unique and memorable.
