Courtney Hadwin is from Sunderland UK. She's very passionate about singing, she was 13 when she got the opportunity to audition on AGT, despite getting 6th place she has continuously been and still is very successful. Now she’s 20, she has just released her single D.N.A. Her music has a wide range but music mostly pop with influences of blues, rock, funk and soul. Here’s our review on D.N.A.
This new single is definitely pop with a bit of rock and a hint of country. The way there’s a lot of guitar shows how much groove this song has and and the way she sings makes the listener want to dance, the lyrics are so catchy and easy to understand.
What is this song is about you might ask? it’s about the overwhelming and obsessive feeling of having a crush. This song has a powerful beat that shows how strong the feeling is and the lyrics are just energetic. The way the vocals are used in this song it makes the listener bop their head to the song.
The way that see repeats D.N.A a lot it shows her empathise on how serious the crush is. No way you can’t escape, you're just falling deeper and deeper, you can’t get out of this feeling, because the feeling is overpowering.
“I wanna see what's runnin' up in your blood
I'll make my heart stop pumping' till I fall in love
The way you wiggle when you dance is killin' me”
These lyrics show that the person wants to get to know what makes her crush very attractive, the curiosity drives her insane.
”You can check my heart for your fingerprint
Maybe it's the way that you wear them jeans
But I never had a chance against your chemistry
Bout to make my head explode, readin' your genetic code”
This verse shows how driven the person is just to try to make their crush fall for them. I love ‘You can check my heart for your fingerprint’, this is like a metaphor for not using your fingerprint when you scan for something instead of using my heart to unlock that. Like her heart is the key there’s nothing else that can replace her heart, it’s the only thing nothing else.
Overall this song is a song that everyone can related to, especially when you have that one person that you have a crush on and become very attached to show it but not to admit it.
