Open Mic is a song by Sweetbreads, the song is about self-expression, ambition and being artistic. Also wanting to be heard. This song has a complex melody making it a strong folk song.

I love the lyrics “You’ll never know all the pain another person feels” this is a reminder that you don’t know what the other person feels or what they have been through. You won’t know their story until you talk to them. 

Another lyric I like is “We do almost anything to try to get ourselves heard and seen. Its that too much to be asking” this shows everyone have trouble proving themselves or at least showing who they really are, it’s like you keep pretending to be someone else but being yourself is already the best.

Overall this song shows that you need to know and believe in yourself and remember you are you and you can’t be someone else. Sometimes life give you are hard situation you need to know you can pass it, maybe you need some help or just confidence. You have it you just need to find it and use it. Find your voice and be heard.
