And I’d Do It Again - Only The Poets Album Review - By The Fans Magazine

Words & Review: Tessa Van Eijkelenburg

And I’d Do It Again!

English band “Only The Poets” - originally from Reading, are FINALLY releasing their debut album! It will be released on January 30th and we had the pleasure of listening to it exclusively, and we’re here to tell you all about it.

For the fans under us, we know that there are a couple of songs we already know - through single releases and teaser tracks. Tommy, Clem, Marcus and Andy have since been releasing some singles.. but now (finally!) we get an collective album (!!)

Firstly, we have an intro; this is called “And I’d Do It Again”. From experience of seeing the band live, the way they start a show, is exactly how they start their album - an upbeat tune even without lyrics screams emotive that makes you SO excited for more!

After that comes “Monumental” a song about a lost love. “A whole year wasted”. Like most songs from OTP , they are incredibly vulnerable about their own experiences - which is so heartwarming yet inspiring. It feels raw and beautiful.

“Emotionally Hungover”

We’ve all been there! Not being over something or even a situation and not being able to move on. Feeling everything overwhelmingly and all whilst sober.

“Thinking Bout Your Ex”

An well structured written and relatable song. The subject is painful but real, a needed slow song. Are you somewhat jealous of the ex of your ex? That EXACTLY what this song is about.

Spoiler alert! Don’t tell Only The Poets that you don’t like “Sake”. As apparently they drink it all the time, it’s a real catchy song about their favorite drink.

“You Hate That I’m In Love” is about a jealous ex and “You could've left with , I wish you the best” insinuates that the ex is in fact leaving with hate, instead of letting it rest on civil terms like you had already done from your side.

“Madeline” is about being scared to hurt someone and because of that you decide to make that person your enemy, despite that you still love them.

“Freeze” within being in your own thoughts, wanting to stop the time and wanting to slow down. Sometimes we would love to press pause! All that so, we don’t miss anything.

“Say” I feel is about wanting to replace someone because you want to leave the past in the past due to whether it be situations or how the person is. But you’re also still wanting to hear they miss you as well. All around there are even the littlest things, that remind you of that one person.

“God Know’s where you were”

A sensitive song. Not being ready for the next few days because you're depressed by thoughts, but God knows where you came from. This is a song that makes you feel you're not alone. A very much upbeat song that lifts you up.

“Don’t Wanna Know”

Not having a care or being interested in what your ex is up to. No bad blood. You just want to leave it behind.

“Bad” is I think about wanting to get out. Wanting something different something fun. Or should I say someone fun?

“I Keep On Messing It Up”

A self-reflecting song about break-up and getting rid of broken pieces. The lyrics are a bit dark, but the overall sound is uplifting and fun.

“Guess She’s Cool”

Tired to be alone. Thinking about someone you used to be with. Getting into new relationships, but still wanting that one person from the past.

Overall, the themes are very much all about heartbreak and self-discovery.

You can catch the band on tour around the UK in late January and early February for album signings & gigs! Full dates are below (but be quick - the band sold-out O2 Academy Brixton in just under 10 minutes, earlier this year!):

“And I’d Do It Again” is out on the 30/01/2026.
